Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS).
FAA’s ADS-B Weather in the Cockpit
Introduced more than a decade ago by the FAA, ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast)
provides weather and traffic information to all aircraft equipped with an ADS-B
receiver, such as the Clarity SV, subscription-free. The portable Clarity SV ADS-B In
receiver provides ADS-B weather to AOPA FlyQ EFB (sold separately)
for display on an iPad.
Read the AOPA ADS-B Primer for more information
The Clarity SV provides the following ADS-B In services: Flight Information Service-Broadcast
(FIS-B). FIS-B provides regional and continental NEXRAD radar imagery from the National
Weather Service, as well as NOTAMs, METARs, TAFs, PIREPs, winds aloft and other
valuable in-flight weather services. FIS-B also includes information on temporary
flight restrictions (TFR) and special use airspaces (SUA). *
The Clarity SV also receives traffic information but
the FAA has significant limitations on when ground stations broadcast traffic information. This can easily lead
to an extremely unsafe situation in which a pilot is lead to believe there is no
traffic in the area when, in fact, there is. For this reason, AOPA FlyQ EFB
does not does not display traffic information
at this time.
Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS)
Clarity SV facilitates your 3D Synthetic Vision app by providing essential pitch-roll-heading data. The Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) comprising of a 9-dof (degree of freedom) sensor suite, and a sophisticated Extended Kalman Filter signal processing module. These work together to continually sense and calculate your aircraft pitch, roll, and yaw attitude which are then transmitted to your iPad/Tablet Synthetic Vision app to present a virtual reality representation of your surrounding environment. Clarity SV is not a certified product and should never be used as a primary flight instrument.
Highly Accurate GPS
The Clarity SV includes a WAAS GPS receiver with fast location acquisition (under 30
seconds), with position updates up to 10 times per second. The GPS location information
is wirelessly transmitted via Wi-Fi to the iPad.
Sagetech360 Internal Phased Array Antenna
Only Clarity employs a sophisticated multi-element internal antenna, shown in RF Test Labs to provide excellent omnidirectional sensitivity. That means you'll safely receive data even from ADS-B ground stations behind you.
Data Burst Technology
Clarity stores ADS-B messages while your iPad sleeps. When you run your descent checklist, turn on your iPad and simply touch Clarity's power button to activate Clarity's Data-Burst function, which transmits stored weather and FIS-B data. You'll have the information you need, when you need it.
Wireless Wi-Fi Connectivity
The Clarity SV wirelessly sends data to up to 5 iPad devices simultaneously.
Built-In Rechargeable Battery
The Clarity SV has a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts for up to 8 hours of
use. Includes wall charger and USB cable.
Useful Non-Slip Pad Included
The included non-slip pad holds the receiver securely in place on an aircraft’s
glareshield, car’s dashboard, or boat’s console.
Set Up is a Breeze
It takes less than a minute to pair your iPad with the Clarity SV, and the receiver
will remember your iPad the next time you want to use it.
